MINOT, N.D.– The 15th-ranked University of Jamestown hockey team scored three times in the third period to defeat No. 2 Minot State University 3-1 Friday night at Maysa Arena.

The win extended the Jimmies’ unbeaten streak to four games and was the first win against the Beavers in three meetings this season. The two teams will finish their weekend series Saturday night in Jamestown at 7 p.m.

After a scoreless 40 minutes that saw the Beavers hold a 19-11 shot advantage, Logan Berggren (SO/Cypress, Calif.)’s seventh goal of the season put the Jimmies in front just 39 seconds into the third period.

UJ’s lead was short-lived, as Minot State drew level 30 seconds later as Davis Sheldon made it 1-1.

Mario DeCapite (FR/Calgary, Alberta)’s first goal as a Jimmie broke the tie at 11:48 of the third, and Reid Wilson (SO/Castlegar, British Columbia) added an empty-net goal with 16 seconds left to seal the victory.

Morgan Venne (SO/Saskatoon, Saskatchewan) and Gage Thompson (JR/Valley City, N.D.) had assists on the Berggren and DeCapite goals, respectively.
