ACHA Declaration Update for 2022-2023 Season

Coaches/GMs/Team Managers

Happy 4th of July!  I hope your summer has gone well and that you are all having a great offseason.  It is hard to believe that we are about to get the 22/23 season started in less than two months.

As was indicated in the Video Newsletter from the Executive Director, the first step in the “paperwork” process for your team(s) is to declare for the 22/23 season.  The plan is for the declaration link to be fully active at 3pm EST on Tuesday, July 5, 2022.

The link is the following:  https://www.achahockey.org/team-registration-info

There are a couple things we want to make sure you know for this process and moving forward

  1. If you click on the link now, you will get a dead page.  The page is currently in “draft” mode as we finish the updates to the information.  It will be live before 3pm.

  1. This declaration is the FIRST STEP of the registration process.  Until a team is declared then everything that follows, player/coach registration, rosters, etc., are all held up for your program

  1. Whoever declares the team, they will be listed in the system as the “Team Manager” and will be who receives the email communication for things like registration, etc.  Last year there were several issues with teams being registered by people that were not the best communication outlet for the season.  Some examples are:  Coaches/Presidents that are no longer with the program and School officials(club sports directors/ADs).  We ask that the person whose information is collected at registration be directly involved with the program in the fall.

  1. When you declare, there will be a list of teams to choose from.   Please be aware of the following

a. Make sure the team you are declaring for is the one you mean to do.  Many schools have multiple Men’s and Women’s teams.  Check the abbreviation by the team name before advancing.

b. For people that are directors of multiple teams at a school, you can go through declaration as  many times as needed to declare each team.  BUT PLEASE….if you are not in direct control of another team at your school, please do not “help them out” by declaring.  It will only make things more difficult when emails or communications are not getting to a team because they have the incorrect contact info.

c. If you get an error message anywhere along the way, please send me an email dkurtz@achahockey.org  Please indicate in the email what the error says so we can target the issue and correct it.

If for some reason something happens; servers crash, Amazon Services blow up from rabbits eating power cables, I will send out another email and let you know what is going on.

Hope you have a great day and look forward to talking to you more as we get closer to the season
