The Bayou State Rougarou of the North American 3 Hockey League (NA3HL) are proud to announce that defenseman Evan McCreary has committed to play ACHA Division I college hockey for Oakland University (Oakland County, Michigan).
McCreary spent one season in the NA3HL for the Rougarou. During the 2025-2026 season, he played in 37 games and recorded seven points, which consisted of three assists and four goals.
“Evan has been a tremendous leader on and off the ice, and this opportunity at Oakland is a testament to the kind of player and person he is. We’re proud of everything he’s accomplished here and excited to watch him take this next step,” said Rougarou Head Coach Paul Maclean.
His best performance came on Jan. 23 against the Carolina Rage. He had three points including one goal and two assists to help aid the Rougarou in a 14-5 victory.
McCreary is one of five players from the Bayou State Rougarou to make a college commitment this season.
