Cougars post pair of 4-0 shutouts

The Assiniboine College Cougars pitched a pair of shutouts against the visiting University of Wisconsin, Eau Claire during American Collegiate Hockey Association’s women’s Division 2 action at J&G Homes Arena on the weekend.

On Sunday morning, Mya Pearce, Brooklyn Franklin, Meagan Carnegie and Madison Haliuk scored, with Payton Murray making 15 saves for the 4-0 shutout victory. The Cougars outshot their visitors 27-1 in the first period but were only up 1-0 due to the effort of Eau Claire goalie Ella Wenzel.

On Saturday evening, the Cougars scored three goals in the second period en route to an identical 4-0 decision.

Kathryn Fischer, Kasey Fouillard, Franklin and Brooklyn Driedger had the goals, with Rachel Halldorson earning the shutout victory.

The Cougars next see action against the Lake Region State College at Quentin N. Burdick Sports Arena in Devils Lake on Dec. 7 and 8.
