CUW Hockey Once Again Finished with a Winning Record

MEQUON, Wis. – The CUW ACHA hockey team finished with a winning record in the 2021-22 campaign and advanced to the Hap Cup Semifinals.

The Falcons qualified for the Hap Cup with a pair of victories over Aurora on the final weekend of the NCHL schedule.

CUW posted an 8-4-1 record inside the Ozaukee Ice Center with victories over Lake Superior State, St. Norbert, Roosevelt, DePaul, Aurora and Adrian.

The Falcons landed on multiple All-NCHL teams in 2022.

Junior Mack Willy (Tacoma, Wash.) was the lone Falcon selected for the honor of First Team All-Conference. Willy played in 19 games this regular season with a record of 8-8-1 with one overtime loss. Willy recorded a .917 save percentage with 660 total saves.

Both sophomore John Swiatek (Rochester, N.Y.) and senior Wyatt Wilderman (Bear Dance, Mont.) landed second-team All-Conference honors. Swiatek played in 29 games recording 21 goals and 16 assists for a total of 37 points. He also had one game-winning goal. Wilderman played in 26 games recording three goals and 26 assists for a total of 29 points.

The Falcons snagged three All-Conference Honorable Mention selections as well. Freshman Garrett Wilderman (Waukesha, Wis.), junior Scott Gregor (Ashland, Wis.), and freshman Nolan Judge (Glendale, Ariz.) all showed up on the honorable mention list.

On top of being an honorable mention, Garrett Wilderman was also named the NCHL rookie of the year.  Wilderman played in 27 games recording 12 goals and 22 assists for a total of 34 points as well as six power-play goals. Wilderman’s name also showed up on the First Team All-Rookie team.

Judge appeared on the All-Rookie second team with freshman Tommy Cassel (Grafton, Wis.) taking his spot on the All-Rookie third team.

The Falcons are poised for another strong season in the 2022-23 campaign.
