The first contest of the series took place at the Southside Ice Arena in Byron Center, Michigan, which saw the Warriors win 4-1. After going into the first intermission down 1-0, Tech responded with their own goal at the 16:58 mark as well as shutting out the Saints for the entire second period. Entering the third and final period tied 1-1, it was all Tech for the rest of the game, with Cam Chabot and Joel Holmberg trading goals early on and then Chabot scoring yet again with 5:45 remaining to put the Saints away for good. Ty Barnhill earned the victory, making 22 saves on the night.
