Brandon Weare of the Jimmie Division 1 men’s hockey team is this week’s My Place Hotels Athlete of the Week.
Weare, a freshman goaltender from Calgary, Alberta, allowed just one goal as Jamestown defeated Stony Brook University 3-1 and University of Delaware 6-0. He stopped 65 of the 66 shots he faced, and has recorded three shutouts in his last four starts.
Through games of November 29, Weare is tied for second in ACHA Division 1 with three shutouts, and among goalies with at least five games played Weare is sixth in goals against average (1.61) and eighth in save percentage (.942).
The sixth-ranked Jimmies are at Midland (Neb.) for a weekend series beginning on Friday.
