Jimmies hockey hope to stop losing streak vs. Waldorf

The No. 10 University of Jamestown hockey team returns home to host Waldorf University at 7 p.m. on Nov. 19 at John L. Wilson Arena. This is the Jimmies’ (5-6-3) first home game since Oct. 30 when they beat Colorado State 5-3. This is the Warriors’ (6-9,4-4) first game since they lost to Illinois State University 3-2 on Nov. 13.

The two teams have played six times with the Jimmies going 6-0. In the series, the Jimmies have outscored the Warriors 43-5. The last time the two teams played was earlier this year on Jan. 30 with the Jimmies winning 9-0. The last time the two teams played at Wilson Arena was on Oct. 26, 2019, with the Jimmies winning 10-0.

The Jimmies are trying to avoid their first three game losing streak since they lost three in a row earlier this year from Apr.6-Apr.17.

This season, the Jimmies have two players with double digits points, Reid Wilson and Jason Richter. Wilson has 14 points and Richter has 11 points. Logan Berggren leads the team in goals this year with six. The Jimmies have been led in net by the veteran presence of Tyson Brouwer who has a 2.56 goals against average and a .923 save percentage.

This season the Warriors have four players with double digit points, Tyler Nelson, Michael Heitkamp, Morgan Sweeney and Jacob Lindblom. Heitkamp and Sweeney are tied for the team lead for goals with seven. Nelson leads the team in helpers with 11. The Warriors leading netminder is Jack Walsh with a 3.07 goals against average. The Warriors backup goalie Nelson Schiller leads the team in save percentage with a .918 save percentage.
