LIBERTY HOLDS THE NO. 1 SPOT FOR THE THIRD WEEK IN A ROW
TROY, Mich. – (November 19, 2024) – Liberty University (9-1-0-0) holds onto the No. 1 spot in this week’s ranking of the 2024-2025 American Collegiate Hockey Association Women’s Division 1 season. The Flames were on the road out east. They played a single game against University of Rhode Island winning 6-2. Followed by two games against University of Massachusetts where they would get a series sweep winning 7-0 and 11-0.
No. 2 seed McKendree University (14-2-1-0) had a bye this past weekend, but will head on the road for a trip to Arizona. They will take on Arizona State Thursday and Friday. Followed by a Saturday game against University of Arizona, and a Sunday game against Grand Canyon University.
No. 3 seed Maryville (10-5-2-0) had a bye this past weekend as well. Their next games will be against cross town rival, Lindenwood University on Saturday and Sunday.
No. 4 seed Adrian College (13-3-0-2) traveled to No. 6 seed Minot State University. This series would be a rematch of the 2024 ACHA Nationals Championship game. In game one, the Bulldogs won 4-2. The second game of the series was a 2-2 tie.
No. 5 seed Midland University (10-4-1-0) was on the road at University of Minnesota. They swept the two game series 3-1 and 9-0.
The Women’s Midwest College Hockey League has seven (of 8) member teams ranked, while the Central Collegiate Women’s Hockey Association has seven (of 12) of its member teams ranked, and the Western Women’s Collegiate Hockey League has zero (of 6).
The computer ranking will determine the 12 teams that qualify for the 2024 ACHA Women’s Division 1 National Championships, which will include the following three automatic bids:
- (CCWHA) Central Collegiate Women’s Hockey Association
- (WWCHL) Western Women’s Collegiate Hockey League
- (WMCHL) Women’s Midwest College Hockey League
A total of 33 teams are competing in Women’s Division 1 this season, including one new full member team, University of Arizona, and a probationary member, University of Washington.
The ACHA uses two computer rankings, Ranking A (Wins with goal differential of 6) and Ranking B (Wins with maximum goal differential of 1) to come up with an average of the two rankings, which determines the ranking spots for teams.
There has been a total of 10 schools that have won the ACHA Women’s Division 1 National Championship:

- Northeastern
- Minnesota

The 2025 ACHA National Championships presented by FloHockey will be played March 13-25, 2025 at Centene Community Ice Center in Maryland Heights, MO. All five divisions, with more than 1,500 players from 72 teams — Men’s Division 1, 2, and 3, and Women’s Divisions 1 and 2 — will converge upon the Maryland Heights area to compete in more than 100 games. The ACHA Women’s Division I National Championships presented by FloHockey will have twelve teams competing beginning on March 17th and conclude with the Championship game on March 21st.
