Lindenwood Sweeps Maryville with 2-1 Win

After a come from behind victory on Saturday, women’s ACHA ice hockey completed a two-game series sweep over Maryville University with a 2-1 win in Women’s Midwest Collegiate Hockey (WMCH) action Sunday night at the Centene Community Ice Center in Maryland Heights, Missouri.

The game proved to be a defensive battle through the first two periods with neither team finding the back of the net, but Kennedy Frank finally unsealed the goal at 4:24 of the third assisted by Ava Bilton and Risa Shatford. Shatford then scored what proved to be the game-winner, her second in as many nights, off a feed from Kennedy Frank at the 10:32 mark to make it 2-0 Lions. The Saints did break the shutout three minutes later, but the Lindenwood defense kept them from getting any closer.

With the victory, the Lions improved to 4-3-0 in the WMCH and to 5-6-0 overall. After a month long break, women’s ACHA hockey will return to the ice for another two game series against Maryville January 6-7 at the Maryville Ice Center in St. Louis, Missouri.
