M1 Crimson Hawks continue to win and give back

No-16 Indiana University of Pennsylvania moves to 15-1-0 with weekend wins over CHMA rivals West Virginia University and Duquesne University.

ACHA ranked Crimson Hawks began the weekend with the 3rd annual Teddy Bear Toss game.   At the 14:57 mark of the 1st period, Jordan Adams with assists from Maddox Rearic and Danny Soltesz scores the famous ‘teddy bear, teddy bear, teddy bear’ broadcast call with fans donating stuffed animals to IRMC Hospital.  IUP defeats WVU at home with a 8-1 final score.  Crimson Hawk players will deliver 250 stuffed animals to the hospital for pediatric patients on Monday December 5, 2022.

IUP traveled Saturday to Alpha Ice Complex facing Duquesne University.  The Crimson Hawks struck early with a powerplay goal by Dominick Glavach, assisted by Jace Rearic leading to a 4-2 final score.

IUP closes out the fall semester schedule with a 15-1-0 record, leading the CHMA league standings and ending the annual Movember Mustache Challenge.  The Crimson Hawks players will present the $2,500 donation to the Western PA Veterans Relief fund, a 501(c)(3) providing assistance to area veterans on December 6, 2022.   “Giving back is an important component of our team culture – family, community service and winning”, commented Head Coach Joe Honzo on the team’s community involvement.

The Crimson Hawks resume play on January 6, 2023 versus University of Delaware at Fred Rust Arena.
