Minnesota Crookston Scores Four Goals in the Final Nine Minutes to Upend UND 4-1

GRAND FORKS, N.D. – The University of Minnesota Crookston hockey team scored four goals in the final nine minutes to pick up a 4-1 come from behind victory over the University of North Dakota ACHA team Saturday, October 22 at Icon Sports Center in Grand Forks, N.D.

The Golden Eagles moved to 4-0-0 (4-0-0 WCCHA) with Saturday’s win. Minnesota Crookston picks up the sweep over the Fighting Hawks. The Golden Eagles are off to their best start as an ACHA Division II program. UND dropped to 0-2 with Saturday’s loss.

After a scoreless first period, North Dakota broke the tie with Nolan Larson’s goal in the sixth minute of the second period off assists from Cody Domagalski and Luke Moberg.

Logan Syrup (So., F, Park River, N.D.) evened up the tally 1-1 in the third period when he scored his team-leading fourth goal of the season in the 12th minute off assists from Dylan Borseth (Sr., F, Williston, N.D.) and Jake Huska (Jr., D, Snow Lake, Manitoba). It was Borseth’s third apple of the season, while it was Huska’s fifth.

Jackson Fuller (So., F, Minneapolis, Minn.) notched his third goal of the season after a rocket pass from Huska, for his sixth assist of the season.

Dylan Borseth (Sr., F, Williston, N.D.) launched one past the goalie late in the third period to give Minnesota Crookston a 3-1 advantage. Tyler Zahradka (Jr., F, Grand Forks, N.D.) notched his second assist of the season.

Dylan Neubauer (So., F, Thompson, N.D.) put the icing on the cake with his third of the season, put in with just over three seconds remaining, to give UMN Crookston the 4-1 victory. Spencer Dahlquist (Jr., D, Maple Grove, Minn.) notched his second assist of the season, in just his second game since joining the team.

Jared Aamold (So., G, Breckenridge, Minn.) earned the victory for the Golden Eagles, his second of the season. He logged all 60 minutes, with one goal allowed and 21 saves.

Leo Troje started for UND. He was tested all day long, as he had 48 saves, and allowed four goals.

UND was 1-of-3 on the power play, while UMN Crookston was 1-for-2.

Logan Syrup leads the Golden Eagles with nine points this season. Huska is second on the squad with seven points. Casey Kallock (Sr., D, Alvarado, Minn.), Zahradka, and Fuller each have five appoints for the season.

Minnesota Crookston hits the road Friday, November 4 and Saturday, November 5 to take on Bethel University in Blaine, Minn.
