Minot State makes it a clean sweep, takes third of weekend from Ducks

MINOT, N.D. – The Beavers continued their offensive onslaught against the visiting Oregon Ducks getting goals from five different players as No. 1-ranked Minot State completed a three-game sweep in the first-ever meeting between the schools with a 5-0 win Saturday at the Maysa Arena.

Joey Moffatt got Minot State (12-0-0 overall) on the board early, scoring 3 minutes, 40 seconds into the contest off assists by Jay Buchholz and Eric Soar, then Brayden Pawluk pushed the lead to 2-0 with a goal with 4:46 left until intermission, off a Landyn Cochrane assist.

Minot State kept tacking on insurance goal after insurance goal from there to complete the sweep as Reece Henry and Sheldin Howard each scored in the second period, then Jay Buchholz scored 4:16 into the third for a comfortable 5-0 advantage.

Jake Anthony finished the night with 24 saves in the shutout win for Minot State, his second shutout of the season.

Minot State next plays a home-and-home series with in-state rival the University of Mary on Dec. 2 and 3. The Beavers hosts the Marauders on Friday, Dec. 2, then play in Mandan on Saturday, Dec. 3.
