Minot State women’s hockey announces 2021-22 schedule

From Minot Daily News

The excitement on the ice begins Oct. 1 as the Minot State women’s hockey team and head coach Ryan Miner announced the Beavers’ 2021-22 schedule Wednesday afternoon.

Coming off a season that saw Minot State compile a 16-5-1-0 record and finish third in the nation at the ACHA Division I National Tournament, the Beavers are excited to begin their quest for even greater success this season.

“We are excited to have a full season of competition as well as getting the student body and community back to the Maysa Arena,” Coach Miner said. “It will be a competitive regular season, but we look forward to the challenge as we earn our way back to the National Tournament.”

The puck drops on the new season at the Maysa Arena here in Minot with the Beavers hosting games Oct. 1-2 against an opponent yet to be determined. The games will be the first two of 14 home contests for the Beavers this season.

Following the home- and season-opening weekend, Minot State heads to Colorado for a pair of games against the University of Colorado and another against Colorado State University before a crucial rematch weekend at the Maysa Arena Oct. 16-17, with Lindenwood University Lions. The Lions cut the Beavers’ 2020-21 season short one game shy of the national championship contest on the same sheet of ice in April. The games also are the Women’s Midwest College Hockey (WMCH) conference openers for the Beavers.

Following the rivalry weekend with the Lions, Minot State heads to Nebraska for a league game at Midland Oct. 21, and a non-conference, neutral-site contest against Adrian College Oct. 22. The Beavers play a third straight on the road at Concordia College Oct. 29, the first of a home-and-home series that concludes at Maysa Arena Oct. 30 with Concordia College visiting Minot State.

The Beavers continue a brief homestand hosting league games against the University of Minnesota Nov. 13-14, then will begin an extended road trip in Michigan with a pair of games at Adrian College, followed by two more at the University of Michigan-Dearborn.

The seven-game road trip continues the first weekend of December with the Beavers visiting the University of Minnesota for two more WMCH games, then will conclude with Minot State playing the first half of another home-and-home series, this time at Dakota College at Bottineau Saturday, Dec. 11.

Minot State returns for its first home game in more than a month to host Dakota College at Bottineau Sunday, Dec. 12, then takes a month-long break for the Christmas and New Year’s holidays.

Back on the ice the weekend of Jan. 15-16, the Beavers play at Lindenwood University in the first of six straight WMCH road contests.

Minot State also plays a pair of games at McKendree University, then two more at Maryville University before returning to the friendly confines of Maysa Arena Friday and Saturday, Jan. 28-29 to host the University of Colorado.

Marking the first of six straight at home to close out the regular season, the Beavers then host Michigan State Feb. 4-5, and wrap up the home and regular season hosting Midland in two final WMCH games Friday and Saturday, Feb. 18-19 at the Maysa Arena.

The Beavers then head to Chesterfield, Missouri for the Women’s Midwest Collegiate Hockey Tournament, hosted by Maryville University, Feb. 25-27.

The ACHA Division I National Tournament, hosted by Minot State this past spring, will be held in St. Louis, Missouri this season the week of March 16-20.
