OXFORD, Ohio. — The No. 4 Adrian College Women’s ACHA Division 1 hockey team diminished the Miami Ohio University Redhawks in a two-game CCWHA conference battle this weekend, collecting 8-2 and 3-2 victories.
The Bulldogs welcomed the Redhawks to the Arrington Ice Arena for a one-sided contest to open the series. Adrian piled on eight goals to Miami-Ohio’s two to win by six on Saturday night. Making their way onto the scoresheet for the Bulldogs was Rhea Peterson who scored twice, Genessie Williams who notted a hat-trick, and Allison Shaw, Tyla Turnbull, and Hailey Wiltshire who each added single tallies. Rieley Jessie-Gerelli backstopped Adrian to the win, making 20 saves on 22 shots on goal.
Adrian made its way to Ohio on Sunday afternoon for a road battle to end the series in search of the sweep. The Bulldogs achieved just that, as Adrian held off Miami-Ohio for a one-goal 3-2 triumph. After going up 3-0 in the opening frame, the Redhawks climbed back in the second period, but a scoreless third resulted in the Bulldog victory. Jessie-Gerelli steered away 13 of the 15 shots that came her way. Makenzie Villiard, Taylor Robinson, and Wiltshire tallied for the Bulldogs in the series clincher.
The WD1 Bulldogs now sit at 15-3-2 on the season and 5-0-0 in CCWHA conference play. The team will move on to another conference series with Concordia University Ann Arbor on December 6-7.
