Petrie commits to University of Mary

Waywayseecappo Wolverines forward Caleb Petrie has committed to play at the University of Mary with the Marauders in the American Collegiate Hockey Association.

Petrie, who is originally from Simcoe, Ontario but has lived in Bismarck, North Dakota for the last half decade, played with the Wolverines for his final season of his Junior A career. He had 35 points in 51 games, scoring 18 goals and 17 assists.

Petrie says he made the decision to play with the Marauders because it is close to family. The rink is only five minutes away from his home.

The team also won a National Championships in the last two seasons, giving Petrie another reason to commit to the school.

“They have a winning culture at University of Mary,” said Petrie. “Another positive for me is that they play 40+ games during their season, which is plenty more than you’ll get at some other programs.”

Even though it was a short stint in Waywayseecappo, Caleb says he is thankful for the time he had in Waywayseecappo.

“I only have great things to say about my time in Wayway,” says Petrie. “Right from day one, I was taken not only by Taylor and Josh and the staff, but by the whole community.”
