Purdue Northwest snatches both games against Davenport in weekend series

The #18 Purdue Northwest ACHA DI Hockey snatched both games in a weekend series against #24 Davenport in a Top 25 showdown. The Pride took Game 1 on Friday night in their annual Outdoor Series at Bulldog Park, 4-1, and then took the victory on the road in Game 2, 4-2.

 

The Basics

Records: #18 Purdue Northwest (11-7-3,4-4-1), #24 Davenport (14-13,3-6)

Location: Bulldog Park – Crown Point, Indiana and Grand Rapids, Michigan

Game 1

Inside The Numbers

Junior Hayden Masloski (Andover, Minn./) led the Pride with one goal and two assists on the night.

Junior Michael Clough (Andover, Minn./) added one goal and one assist for Purdue Northwest.

Seniors Craig Herman (Bloomington, Minn./Bloomington Kennedy HS) and Sam Bourdages (Hearst, Ontario/) each chipped in one goal during the game.

Junior Isaac Hyde (Ft. Wayne, Ind./) played 60 minutes between the pipes for the Pride and recorded 26 saves to claim the win.

Robert McLaughlin led Davenport scoring the lone goal.

Nathan Gauthier started in goal for the Panthers playing all 60 minutes in goal and made 50 saves.

 

The Breakdown

Purdue Northwest scored one goal in the first period to go up 1-0.

The Pride added two goals in the second to grow their lead to 3-0.

Purdue Northwest recorded their fourth goal in the third period to make it a 4-0 game.

Davenport were able to add their lone goal late in the third to make it 4-1.

The Pride ultimately ended the game with a 4-1 victory after tremendous goalkeeping and defensive efforts.

The Pride outshot Davenport during the contest, 54-24.

 

Game 2

Inside The Numbers

Junior Patrick Hays (Centerville, Ohio/) led the Pride with one goal and one assist.

Freshman Kolin Leduc (Macomb, Mich.), sophomore RJ Swaw (Orland Park, Ill./) and Bourdages each added one goal a piece during the game for Purdue Northwest.

Four different Pride players provided an assist during the contest.

Junior Isaac Hyde (Ft. Wayne, Ind./) started for the Pride once again playing all 60 minutes making 29 total saves and grabbing the win.

Brendan Bauer led Davenport scoring two goals.

Gauthier started once again in goal for the Panthers playing all 60 minutes and made 30 saves.

 

The Breakdown

Purdue Northwest grabbed the early lead in the first few minutes to go up 1-0.

Davenport tied the game up, 1-1, before the end of the first period.

The Pride notched two goals in the second period to grab the lead and build their advantage up 3-1.

The Panthers recorded a late goal in the third period to make it a one score game. 3-2.

Purdue Northwest grabbed an empty net goal in the final minute to give them the win in a hard-fought  4-2 win.

Purdue Northwest ended the game outshooting the Panthers, 34-31.

 

Up Next

The Pride now take on #11 Drury in a Top 20 match-up. Both games are home this weekend for the Pride starting on Friday, January 17 with puck drop at 7:00 PM CT at The Kube in Hammond, Indiana.
