From Saginaw Valley State University Athletics

The Saginaw Valley State University hockey team is proud to announce a hiring of Ethan Schneider who will be behind the bench as an assistant coach/ video coach. Ethan was a former player for the Cards from 2021-2023 as a defensemen. He also played a key role on the team as video coach this past season. This upcoming season he will be on the bench as well to assist Coach Orth.

Coach Orth is very excited to see the young Ethan Schneider making the transition to the coaching life saying, “ Schneids is the definition of Cardinal hockey. He put in so much work this past season for us and helped in any way he was able too. The love he has for the game is unmatched and he will be a tremendous addition to the staff.” Schneider will bring a great player perspective to the staff with only being out of the playing side no more than a year ago. Schneider had this to say about what he will be bringing to the table, “ as a young guy in the coaching realm, I bring a fresh perspective on the game and an enthusiasm with levels beyond measure. I love the team and university and I believe that will be shown with my passion behind the bench.”

Ethan was a no brainer hire for the staff as he shares the same goals for the team on and off the team. “ I am excited for this upcoming season because I love the game of hockey and I am eager to share my knowledge and passion with the players. I am looking forward to building a strong team culture, developing players both on and off the ice, and working towards achieving success as a team,” said Ethan.
