The Williston State Hockey team had an impressive start to their season last weekend.

They picked up two wins over the Minnesota State University Moorhead club hockey team on Oct. 15 and Oct. 16.

But they weren’t just any wins, they were shutouts.

The Tetons won 27-0 on Friday and 14-0 on Saturday.

Head Coach Donovan Gault said in an Oct. 18 email, that the thing that went right for the team was that they were ready to play.

“They have gone through a lot since they have been on campus, with no coach and having to run their own practices for the last month and a half,” he wrote. “Since I got to town a couple weeks ago you could tell the guys were roaring to go and everything was just clicking for us.”

Overall, there’s 28 players on the team, which is something Gault said is going to help them become a hard team to play against.

“They all know they must compete night in and night out to stay in the lineup and it just makes them all work harder,” he wrote.

According to the Tetons’ website, their next games are Oct. 29 and Oct. 30.

They will play at Montana State University on Friday and at University of Providence on Saturday. Both games start at 8 p.m. central.

Their first home game is Nov. 3 when they host University of Mary at 7 p.m. at the Raymond Center.
