FOUR TEAMS HAVE PUNCHED THEIR TICKET TO DAY 3 OF W1 NATIONALS
Day one of the American Collegiate Hockey Association’s women’s division one tournament is in the books. The first game of the day paired Indiana Tech against University of Massachusetts. Indiana Tech scored their first goal of the game halfway through the first period. By the end of the period, they were holding a 2-0 lead. The Warriors would go on to score twice more. Goals from Nesbitt, Yakiwchuk, Pattem-Shand, and Bowler. The Minutemen outshot the Warriors 27-24. Final: Indiana Tech 4, University of Massachusetts-Amherst 0
Our second game of the day was a St. Louis showdown as Lindenwood University took on McKendree University. The Lions outshot the Bearcats 25-12. McKendree started off the scoring for the game with a goal from Dion. Lindenwood would come back with five unanswered goals. The Lions scorers were Drost, Teague, Fortier, Gee, and Hawryshko. Final: Lindenwood University 5, McKendree University 1
Adrian College took on Maryville University in the third game of the day. The Saints outshot the Bulldogs 28-18. This was a back-and-forth game with quite a few penalties. Maryville started off the scoring. They had a 2-0 lead after one period of play. The second period was all Adrian who scored three times. The Saints tied the game at 3 less than 6 minutes into the third period. They would go onto score twice more, with the last goal being scored on an empty net. Final: Adrian College 3, Maryville University 5
Our final game of the night was a battle of the west. Minot State University took on University of Colorado. It was 1-0 after one period of play with the Beavers on top. Minot outshot Colorado 37-13. Minot’s Megan Norris tallied four points in the game. Final: Minot State 9, University of Colorado 0
The winning teams from today’s matchups move onto Day three. The losing teams from today will play tomorrow for the final two spots to compete on Friday.
10:00 am – University of Massachusetts vs McKendree University
1:00 pm – Adrian College vs University of Colorado
All games today will be played at Centene Community Ice Center on the USA rink.
