Warriors Stifle Lindenwood, Sweep Three-Game Series

MARYLAND HEIGHTS, Mo. – Hitting the road for the first time this season, Midland University traveled to Missouri for a three-game series with Lindenwood University over the weekend. The Warriors dominated their fellow Women’s Midwest College Hockey (WMCH) foe with three shutout victories, winning 10-0 on Friday, 7-0 on Saturday, and 6-0 on Sunday inside the Centene Community Ice Center.

Friday: Midland 10, Lindenwood 0

Midland jumped out quickly, scoring five goals in the opening period. Jordan Bell opened the scoring off an assist from Jaicee Huberdeau at the 1:16 mark. Less than a minute later, Taylor Bell added a power-play goal off a pass from Haley Blaine to make it 2-0 within the first two minutes.

Near the midway point, the Warriors capitalized on another power play as Katie McNair scored with help from Ashlyn Kuffler and Victoria Campbell. Blaine followed with a goal at 11:06, assisted by Grace Page, before Kiara McGregor set up Callie Maguire for the final tally of the period, sending Midland into intermission up 5-0.

Jordan Bell netted her second goal of the night early in the second period, assisted by Darbi Poole and Sabrina Durham. The lead grew with goals from Poole and Taylor Bell, assisted by Page and Poole, respectively, pushing it to 8-0.

In the third, Makenna Larson scored off a feed from Taylor Bell, and Maguire capped the scoring with help from Jadis Howden and Kuffler.

Defensively, Midland held the Lions to just 10 shots, all saved by Meghan Stewart. Lindenwood’s goaltender faced 62 shots, allowing 10 goals.

Saturday: Midland 7, Lindenwood 0

Midland showcased balanced scoring in the second game of the series, outshooting Lindenwood 70-11. Seven different Warriors found the back of the net.

In the first period, McGregor scored on a feed from Maguire, McNair followed with a goal assisted by Brynn Tosh, and Blaine added a tally with 2:39 left, assisted by Heidi Danners and Kuffler, for a 3-0 lead.

Kuffler scored the lone goal of the second period at 1:46, assisted by Howden.

The Warriors closed it out with three goals in the third. Tosh scored off a pass from Brooke Barylski, Danners netted her first collegiate goal at 5:39 with assists from Tosh and Kennedy Wood, and Page added the final score on a power play, assisted by Larson and Taylor Bell.

Natalie Rampton earned the win in goal with 11 saves.

Sunday: Midland 6, Lindenwood 0

Looking to complete the sweep, Midland controlled the final game. After one goal in each of the first two periods, the Warriors exploded for four in the third.

Barylski opened with a first-period power-play goal, assisted by Maguire and McNair. Huberdeau added an unassisted power-play tally early in the second.

In the third, Taylor Bell scored twice—first at 5:04 from Larson and later unassisted at 13:16. Between her goals, Jordan Bell scored off passes from McNair and Huberdeau, while Maguire added an unassisted power-play goal.

Brynn Knaus recorded her first collegiate win, stopping 17 shots. Lindenwood’s goaltender faced 93 shots, making 87 saves.

Midland (5-0) will be back on the ice this weekend with a two-game road series at Jamestown (0-2). The teams met two weeks ago in Fremont, with the Warriors winning 6-0 and 5-1. The quick rematch is set for Friday, Sept. 26, and Saturday, Sept. 27, in Jamestown, North Dakota. Game times are 3 p.m. and noon inside Wilson Arena.
