Details About Rankings & Invitations to Nationals
Invitations to 2025 Nationals were extended to the top-ranking W2 teams in each region based on the final ranking of the season. All teams were aware all season of how many invitations each region would receive for Nationals.
A note about the W2 pools: As voted on by the division at the 2024 ACHA Annual Meeting, the 3, 4 and 5 seeds from each region were randomly assigned pools prior to the final ranking. The pools feel completely random, because they are.
The following four conferences recognized by the ACHA with at least six W2 ACHA member teams were also offered an automatic bid to the 2025 W2 National Championships for their top team. Note that if a team already ranked in a qualifying spot for their region won an auto bid, the auto bid had no impact. If a team that was not ranked in a qualifying spot for their region won the auto bid, that team would replace the lowest ranked team in their region. For this season, auto bids did not impact the final ranking; every team invited to Nationals happened to be ranked.
Congratulations to the following conference championship winners:
- Central Collegiate Women’s Hockey Association (CCWHA) – Sault College
- College Hockey East (CHE) – Mercyhurst University
- Delaware Valley College Hockey Conference (DVCHC) – Villanova University
- Independent Women’s Club Hockey League (IWCHL) – Providence College
