MINOT STATE UNIVERSITY STILL ON TOP WITH PERFECT 9-0-0 RECORD IN AMERICAN COLLEGIATE HOCKEY ASSOCIATION RANKING #4

UNION LAKE, Mich. – (November 1, 2023) – Minot State University (9-0-0), the defending Men's Division I National Champions of the American Collegiate Hockey Association, remains atop the 2023-2024 ACHA Men's Division I Ranking #4, as the ranking system switches from a coaches poll to a computer poll.  The Beavers were idle this past weekend but will hit the ice with a Top 4 matchup on the road against University of Mary tonight.  No. 2 University of Central Oklahoma (9-1-0) moved up a spot after splitting its weekend series with University of Mary (6-2-1), winning 3-0 on Friday before suffering its first loss of the season on Saturday 4-2.  The Marauders, which moved up from Men’s Division II after winning back-to-back National Championships in 2021 and 2022, find themselves sitting at No. 4 after the split with the Bronchos.   Bumping up two spots was No. 3 University of Nevada-Las Vegas (9-1-0), which swept University of Arizona in a pair of conference games in the friendly confines of City National Arena (3-2, 3-1).   Rounding out the Top 5 was Niagara University (8-2-0), which split a pair of home-and-home games against University of Pittsburgh, winning 7-4 on the road Friday before falling 4-2 to the Panthers at home on Saturday.

Moving into the polls this week is No. 9 Iowa State University, No. 17 New York University, No. 23 Lehigh University, and No. 24 University of Oklahoma.

Dropping out of the Top 25 are Illinois State University, Purdue University Northwest, Lawrence Tech, and Davenport University.

The Western Collegiate Hockey League leads the way with seven (of 10) of its member teams ranked, while the Eastern States Collegiate Hockey League has five (of 8) of its member teams ranked, the Great Lakes Collegiate Hockey League has three (of 10) of its member teams ranked, and both Midwest College Hockey and Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference each have two (of 7) of its member teams ranked.

With the ACHA switching to a computer-based ranking from a coaches poll, the ACHA will use the two computer rankings generated by USHSHO.com, Ranking A (Wins with Maximum Goal Differential of 7) and Ranking B (Wins with Maximum Goal Differential of 1), and come up with an average of the two rankings. The ACHA will then use the list generated from the average for its weekly ranking. Ties will be broken using the higher ranked team from Ranking B until the Top 25 teams are listed. All games that go to overtime will be scored as ties in the computer ranking.
