First M2 Regional Ranking of 2024 Released

TROY, MICH. (January 25, 2024)- The Men's Division 2 Regional Rankings for all games through January 21st have been released.  This is the 6th of nine (9) Regional Rankings that will culminate with the Final Ranking on Tuesday, February 13th.

 

Central Rankings

University of Saint Thomas regained the #2 spot in the first ranking of the 2024 for the Central Region.  The Tommies continue to be in a battle for the second National Autobid with Concordia University of Wisconsin.  Maryville improved their regional chances moving out up to #11, the first wild card spot.  The Panthers of Davenport rejoined the Top 20 this week, checking in at #20

Northeast Rankings

As Northeastern University continues to solidify their hold on the top spot, the fight for the #2 seed is getting tighter.  RPI, New Hampshire, and Keene State have all held the spot at one point in during the year.  Less then a half of a point separate these three teams.  Sacred Heart jumped two spots this ranking as the Pioneers are trying to chase down Bentley and UMass for a first round bye in the Regionals.  Westfield State checks in as a new team in the Top 20, coming in at #19

Southeast Rankings

FGCU and Indiana have been in the top two spots all season, but with Liberty's big weekend at the Miami Showcase, the Flames are pushing to try to grab and autobid.  LU sits .003 behind the Hoosiers as the teams get ready for the final stretch.  The University of North Carolina finds itself in a the coveted #6 spot this week, opening the possibility of first round Regional bye, a first for the program.  Delaware continues it's late season push for a Regional Bid as they move up another spot to #17.

West Rankings

A new team checks in at #2 in this week's West Region Ranking.  MSU-Denver jumps to the second spot with three rankings left in the 23-24 season. The West continues to be the most fluid of the regions as 18 of the top 20 teams moved up or down from Ranking #5.  Three teams, University of Texas, Boise State, and University of Montana all rose four spots in the New Year.
