The Hope College men’s hockey team skated to a pair of one-goal victories against Northwood University this weekend in American Collegiate Hockey Association Division 1 play.

The Flying Dutchmen won 3-2 during a Saturday matinee at Midland Ice Arena in Midland and 4-3 on home ice Friday night at Griff’s IceHouse West.

Hope is 4-0 on the season.

On Saturday, the Flying Dutchmen received goals from junior Brady Breit (Byron Center, Michigan / Byron Center), freshman left wing Alex John (Bloomfield Hills, Michigan / Detroit Country Day / Metro Jets USPHL Premier) and freshman right wing Gerdas Paulauskas (Lisle, Illinois / Acellus Academy / Toledo Cherokee USPHL Premier).

Sophomore goalie Sebastian Wigfield (Blue Hill, Maine / Saint Ignatius College Prep / Battle Creek Kernels USPHL Premier) stopped 43 shots.

On Friday, a three-goal second period proved to be the difference for the Flying Dutchmen.

Four different skaters scored for Hope, including freshman center Logan Nickolaus (Byron Center, Michigan / Byron Center / Wisconsin Windigo NAHL), whose first goal of the season came on the power play and extended the lead to 4-2.
