GREAT FALLS, Mont. – The University of Providence hockey team remained at #3 in the latest ACHA regional rankings.

The Argos (6-3) are coming off a split weekend against #7 Montana State, in which the Argos defeated the Bobcats at home before falling to them on the road two days later.

“Given the fact that we split, I think it’s probably fair,” head coach Jeff Heimel said. “We put ourselves in a good position Friday night to maybe jump to #2. We really needed to take care of business on Sunday to really have a chance at that and we didn’t get it done. We’re content. We’re in a good spot heading into the break.”

The Argos will enjoy the Christmas break before taking the ice again with a good chance to jump in the rankings. The squad will host the top-seeded University of Mary on Friday, Jan. 7 and #11 Williston State the following day. Both games will be held at the Great Falls Ice Plex, with the puck dropping at 7:00 p.m. both nights.

“We still have the opportunity to make some noise and win some hockey games and try to jump into that #2 spot,” Heimel said. “First the guys have to rest and reset. Mentally that’s important. When we get back, we have the ability to practice more than we normally are allowed to in a week. We have to take advantage of that ice time before school starts to be prepared and ready to go.”
