ARIZONA STATE HEADS TO ST. LOUIS TO TAKE ON MARYVILLE IN FEATURED GAME OF THE WEEK
TROY, Mich. – (January 10, 2024) – In the last ranking of 2023, Maryville University held onto the No. 6 position, followed directly by Arizona State University at No. 7. This Friday, January 12th, they face each other.
Arizona State is 10-1-0-0 so far this season. The Sun Devils inaugural season was 2016-2017. They made their first National Tournament appearance in 2023. The Sun Devils are members of the Western Women’s Collegiate Hockey League (WWCHL).
“This game is important to our team because it means another opportunity to play a ranked opponent. We have a competitive relationship between our teams. This game will help us prepare for the National Tournament,” said Arizona State Head Coach Lindsey Ellis.
During the 2022-2023 season, the Saints and Sun Devils met at the National Tournament. The Saints won 2-0. This season, the two teams have played twice in Arizona. The teams split that series with the Saints winning 5-2 and the Sun Devils winning 2-1.
Maryville University is 11-9-1-0 so far this season. The Saints inaugural season was 2021-2022. They made their first National Tournament appearance in 2022. The Saints are members of Women’s Midwest Collegiate Hockey League (WMCH).
“Our two teams are starting to build a rivalry quickly as we have just played at nationals where we beat them. We also had a two game series in AZ this year that saw Maryville win 5-2 and lose the next night 2-1. It’s been very physical games and emotional games as both teams are cementing themselves in the Top 10 for two years in a row,” said Maryville Head Coach, Tom Lange.

This week’s game is set for January 12th at 2:00 pm central time. The game will be played at Maryville University Hockey Center (MO) located at 18383 Chesterfield Airport Road, Chesterfield, MO 63005.
