(Howell, MI)– The Cleary Cougar ACHA D1 hockey team faced their second straight top-10 opponent, and went toe to toe with the #6 ranked Indiana Tech Warriors Friday and Saturday evening.

In Game 1 at Indiana Tech:  Cam Thomas got things going for Cleary, as he gave the Cougars a 1-0 lead, with an assist from Brendyn Galloner, with just under 14 minutes remaining in the opening period.  The Warriors would equalize late in the period to tie the game.  In the 2nd period, Jonny Gardiner scored a power play goal to put the Cougars back in the lead, with assists from Wes Smith and Levi Herauf.  Two quick power play goals in the 2nd period for Indiana Tech gave the hosts the lead.  The Warriors added a fourth goal early in the 3rd period.  With Cleary entering desperation mode, the Cougars drew a penalty, and scored to cut the deficit to one, when Zack Wiener scored, with assists from Jonny Gardiner and Levi Herauf.  Cleary would pull goalie Koby Kebbe to try and find the equalizer, but the Warriors would take advantage of the empty net, and score the dagger, to make the score 5-3.

Koby Kebbe was stellar in the loss, making 72 saves on 76 shots on goal.

In Game 2 vs. Indiana Tech:  Zack Wiener scored the 1st period’s only goal on a power play, with assists from Levi Herauf and Jonny Gardiner.  After Indiana Tech scored in the 2nd period, Cleary got their lead back when Dalton Cummings scored, with an assist from Ben Gledhow, to make the score 2-1.  Two quick goals to start the 3rd period would give the Warriors the lead for good, as they scored an insurance goal, and their third of the 3rd period, to make the score 4-2.

Tyler Krasofsky made 38 saves in the game on 42 shots on goal.

Cleary drops to 6-15, 4-11 in the WHAC.  The Cougars will be back in action next weekend when they take on the Concordia Cardinals in a WHAC matchup.  Cleary will host CUAA at 140 Ice Den on Friday, January 20.  The puck is scheduled to drop at 8:00 PM.
