Caminis Named SHU’s Male Athlete of the Year

Sacred Heart University M2 sophomore forward Christos Caminis was named male athlete of the year at their annual Campus Life Leadership Awards on April 26th. The CLLAs celebrate the phenomenal contributions SHU students make across campus and within the greater community through their involvement in and out of the classroom.

This year’s male athlete of the year put together a historic campaign for the Pioneers.

During his first full season with SHU, he led the team in 4 offensive categories. Nationally, he’s tied 12th in goals, 5th in PPG, and 4th in GWG. He was named 1st team all-conference and was voted the SECHL runner-up POY, scoring the lone SHU goal in the program’s first trip to the conference championship. In his final appearance of the season, he set the tone for the team, recording 5 points in 2 games at the Northeast Regional Tournament.

He was selected ACHA All-Region Northeast 3rd team, becoming only the 2nd Pioneer in SHU history to make an all-regional team.

A leader on and off the ice, he is 3rd on the team in GPA and was recently named captain for the upcoming 2023-2024 season. A joy in the locker room and a favorite among his teammates, he always brings a positive attitude and motivates everyone to bring their best every day.
