Derito commits to M1 Oswego State

From Oswego State Hockey

OSWEGO, NY – The Lakers ACHA Hockey Program is proud to announce the commitment of 2005 Forward, Zach Derito. The Central NY native will bring his college career close to home (Baldwinsville, NY) after spending a season with the Buffalo Jr Sabres in the OJHL. During that time, Derito competed in 41 games and produced 3 goals and 10 assists for 13 points while logging crucial penalty kill minutes for the Sabres. The Jr. Sabres this season had a PK percentage of 77.7% and a cumulative record of 31-20-0-5, qualifying for the OJHL playoffs. Derito will bring a gritty, two-way style that should be difficult to play against in the corners and half walls. Derito also has skill and puck possession ability that will help to drive some additional production on the offensive front.

When asked about the commitment to Oswego, Zach had this to say, “I am looking forward to getting started. It will be nice to be close to home playing again, and knowing some friends at Oswego should help the transition into college.” Zach will study Biology at Oswego in hopes of pursuing a career as a Marine Biologist.
