Final Men’s Division 2 Rankings of 2023 is released

TROY, MICH. (December 14, 2023)- The Men's Division 2 Regional Rankings for all games through December 10th have been released.  This is the fifth of nine (9) Regional Rankings that will culminate with the Final Ranking on Tuesday, February 13th.

 

Central Rankings

Lindenwood University solidified their #1 spot in the Central with a weekend sweep of then #2 University of Saint Thomas.  Those losses pushed the Tommies to the #3 spot and Concordia of Wisconsin jumped up to take the #2 seed as 2023 comes to an end.  The rest of the Top 11 teams remained where they were in last week's rankings.  Lake Superior State and Maryville each moved up a spot, #12 and #13 respectively.  MSU-Mankato and Minnesota both slide down a couple spots but remained in the Top 20.

Northeast Rankings

RPI finished the semester strong, continuing to rise through the weeks and will finish the calendar year in the #2 spot, behind Northeastern.  They hoped over Keene State and New Hampshire, who fell to #3 and #4.  Boston University and Saint Anselm flipped their #8 and #9 seeds this week and Sacred Heart University rose back in the Top 10.  Marist College moved up two spots to #15 and is chasing down UConn, who currently sits in the last potential at-large spot.

Southeast Rankings

The Southeast saw the least amount of movement in this final ranking of 2023.  The only changes has Penn State moving from #8 to #6, thus pushing last week's #6 and #7, Ohio and UNC, each down one peg.  FGCU has begun to stretch out their lead at #1 from Indiana.

West Rankings

Loyola Marymount University continued to rise to new heights as Lions finish the first semester at #4 in the West Region.  Utah State jumped up to #3 after Dakota College slid down from #3 to #7 in this week.  University of Utah returned to Top 20 after briefly falling out.

The rankings will be released weekly on Thursdays at 6pm EST through December 12th.  They will resume on a weekly basis on January 25th and will continue until the final ranking are released on February 13th.  The top two teams in each region will receive an automatic invitation to the 2024 ACHA Men's Division 2 National Championships.  Teams ranked #3-#10 will receive an automatic invitation to the 2024 Men's Division 2 Regional Tournaments.  Finally, four (4) teams will earn a spot in the Regional Tournaments either through a League Auto bid or as a wild card if the league does not use their respective auto bid.  The 2024 Regional Tournaments will be on February 23-25th.  The 2024 National Championships for Men's Division 2 will be March 11th-15th, in Saint Louis, Missouri.
