FIRST RANKING OF 2024 FOR WOMEN’S DIVISION ONE
TROY, Mich. – (January 23, 2024) – This is the first ranking of 2024 and we have a new number one. Liberty University claims the No. 1 spot in the first ranking of the new year. The Flames (11-2-1-0) will make the trip to St. Louis for a single game against McKendree University, Lindenwood University, and Maryville University.
Midland University (21-0-0-2) holds the No. 2 spot. This past weekend, the Warriors were on the road at Minot State University. The Warriors beat the Beavers 4-2 on Friday, and then tied 2-2 on Saturday.
Adrian College (16-4-0-1) claims the No. 3 spot in this week’s ranking. The Bulldogs swept Niagara University, 9-1 and 3-4. This weekend the Bulldogs will take on the University of Michigan-Dearborn on Thursday, and the University of Michigan on Saturday and Sunday.
The No. 4 spot is held by McKendree University (12-6-0-1). The Bearcats will host Liberty University on Thursday, Minot State University on Friday, and University of Jamestown on Saturday.
Maryville University (15-11-1-0) rounds out the top 5 of this week’s ranking. The Saints will have a three game weekend with a single game against Minot State University, University of Minnesota, and Liberty University.
The Women’s Midwest College Hockey League has eight (of 8) member teams ranked, while the Central Collegiate Women’s Hockey Association has five (of 12) of its member teams ranked, and the Western Women’s Collegiate Hockey League has one (of 6).
The computer ranking will determine the 10 teams that qualify for the 2024 ACHA Women’s Division 1 National Championships, which will include the following three automatic bids:
- (CCWHA) Central Collegiate Women’s Hockey Association
- (WWCHL) Western Women’s Collegiate Hockey League
- (WMCHL) Women’s Midwest College Hockey League
A total of 31 teams are competing in Women’s Division 1 this season, including one new team, Niagara University.
The ACHA uses two computer rankings, Ranking A (Wins with goal differential of 6) and Ranking B (Wins with maximum goal differential of 1) to come up with an average of the two rankings, which determines the ranking spots for teams.
There has been a total of 9 schools that have won the ACHA Women’s Division 1 National Championship:

- Northeastern
- Minnesota

The 2024 ACHA National Championships presented by FloHockey will be played March 7- 17, 2024 at Centene Community Ice Center in Maryland Heights, MO. All five divisions, with more than 1,500 players from 72 teams — Men’s Division 1, 2, and 3, and Women’s Divisions 1 and 2 — will converge upon the Maryland Heights area to compete in more than 100 games. The ACHA Women’s Division I National Championships presented by FloHockey will have ten teams competing beginning on March 13th and conclude with the Championship game on March 17th.
