M2 Lindenwood Earns 3-1 Win over Trine

Men’s ACHA Division II ice hockey earned a 3-1 win over Trine University as part of the Lindenwood Winter Classic by JOG Friday afternoon at the Centene Community Ice Center in Maryland Heights, Missouri.

The Lions took an early lead in the game when Nolan Kahl and Michael Mullen set up Praveen Dhaliwal for a goal at the 2:00 mark, but the Thunder evened the score with just under six-minutes remaining in the first.

Alex Villa made it 2-1 Lindenwood when he sounded the horn at 3:45 in the second, assisted by Bryce Leger and Chase McClellan. Sean McMahon tacked on an unassisted goal, his ninth of the season, with 16:16 remaining in regulation and the Lions held off Trine for the final margin

Lindenwood outshot the Thunder 30-18 and Ethan Paulin-Hatch stopped 17 of the 18 shots he faced to earn the victory in goal.

The Lions, who improved to 16-4-0 on the season, will wrap up their portion of the Lindenwood Winter Classic when they host Davenport University on Saturday. The puck drops at 3:40 p.m. at the Centene Community Ice Center.
