Panthers take down #3 Iowa to finish Fall semester

From Drury Athletics

The Panthers picked up the biggest win in the short history of the men’s hockey program Saturday, Dec. 9, when they beat the current Central Region #3, and 2023 ACHA National runner-up, Iowa Hawkeyes 7-6 at Jordan Valley Ice Park.

The win followed a strong performance the previous night which ended in a heartbreaking 5-4 overtime loss for the Panthers. It was an important weekend for the Panthers, who were coming off a disappointing pair of road losses to previously lower-ranked Bradley University Dec 1-2.

Sophomore goaltender Josh Robins started both games for Drury, facing over 100 shots in two games, earning the win in Saturday’s game, while offensively the Panthers were led on the weekend by freshmen Jakob Holley (1 goal, 6 assists) and Matthew Teasdale (3 goals, 2 assists).

The Panthers enter their 7-week holiday break 11-5-2 with eight games remaining, including four huge games with regional tournament implications against Lindenwood University and Maryville University at the beginning of the Spring semester.
