SPARTANS VS LIONS BATTLE IN ST LOUIS

TROY, Mich. – (January 11, 2024) – Michigan State University will travel to St. Louis to take on Lindenwood University on Saturday, January 13th. Going into this weekend, the Lions are ranked No. 12, followed by the Spartans at No. 15.

Michigan State is 9-3-1-1 going into this weekend series. The Spartans have been a team in the ACHA since the early years of the women’s division. They won the ACHA National Tournament in 2003 and 2011. They were also runner-ups in 2005 and 2010.

“We need to have strong games while in St. Louis, including against Lindenwood.  We have not beaten Lindenwood in the two meetings we previously had in the 2018-19 & 2019-20 seasons and were set to play them at the 2020 Nationals that were canceled,” said Michigan State Head Coach Rob Blackburn.

Lindenwood is 3-8-0-1 going into this weekend. The Lions inaugural season took place in 2003-04. Lindenwood won the ACHA National Tournament in 2006, 2008, 2009, 2010, and were runner-ups in 2007.

In addition to being members of the American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA), Michigan State is a member of the Central Collegiate Women’s Hockey Association (CCWHA) and Lindenwood University is a member of the Women’s Midwest Collegiate Hockey League (WMCH).
