UNDEFEATED UNIVERSITY OF JAMESTOWN ATOP AMERICAN COLLEGIATE HOCKEY ASSOCIATION RANKING #6
Jimmies on Top for Third Consecutive Week
UNION LAKE, Mich. – (November 13, 2024) – University of Jamestown (13-0-0) remains atop the 2024-2025 ACHA Men’s Division I Ranking #6. The Jimmies, which were idle this past weekend, are in the top spot for the third consecutive week.
No. 2 Minot State University (10-1-1) swept a home conference series over Waldorf University (9-3, 2-1). Friday night, Waldorf’s Jordan Adams tied the game at 3-3 at 6:40 of the 2nd period only to the have the Beavers scored six unanswered goals to finish the game, including a three-goal hat trick by Reid Arnold. Also contributing for the Beavers were Christian Kadolph (goal, 3 assists), Colby Joseph (goal, 2 assists), and Walker Jerome (3 assists). Saturday night, the Warriors led the Beavers 1-0 heading into the third period, but Jay Buchholz got his sixth goal of the season to tie it up before Brayden Pawluk potted the game winner with only 1:33 left in the game. Warrior goaltender Matthew Loney finished with 43 saves.
No. 3 Ohio University (10-2-0) swept Liberty University on the road at LaHaye Ice Center in Lynchburg, Va (4-3, 5-3). Friday night, Graham Broadfoot got his first goal of the season to break a 3-3 tie with 6:39 remaining in regulation to propel the Bobcats to victory. Saturday night, the Bobcats led 2-1 after the first period and 3-2 after the second period before goals by Luc Reeve and Laker Aldridge in the first 5:51 of the third period salted the game away.
No. 4 Adrian College (8-1-2), the defending Men’s Division I National Champions, hit the road to Dwyer Arena and swept Niagara University (3-2 OT-SO, 5-2). Friday night, each team tallied two goals in the second period but three periods plus a 3-on-3 overtime period could not break a tie. In the shootout, Sebastian Smith and Alex Schaumburger while goaltender Peyton Trzaska denied both Purple Eagles’ shooters and finished with 32 saves while counterpart Brady McEwen finished with 35 saves. Saturday afternoon, Niagara jumped out to a 2-0 first period lead on a shorthanded goal by Austin Robinson and a power play goal by Cullen McCormick. The Bulldogs Justin Jamer tied it up with a pair of goals 3:24 apart midway through the second period before Conner Graham got the game winner only eleven seconds after Jamer’s equalizer. Jamer added two assists for a four-point game. McEwan was excellent again making 41 saves in defeat while Trzaska stopped 31 shots on goal for the Bulldogs.
Rounding out the Top 5 was University of Nevada-Las Vegas (7-1-0), Men’s Division I national runners-up in 2024, which was idle.
Moving into the polls this week is No. 24 Davenport University while Stony Brook University drops out.
The Great Lakes 6 Hockey Conference, playing in its inaugural season, leads the way with five (of 6) of its member teams ranked, while Western Collegiate Hockey League, has eight (of 11) of its member teams ranked, and Midwest College Hockey has five (of 10) of its member teams ranked.
The ACHA uses two computer rankings generated by USHSHO.com, Ranking A (Wins with Maximum Goal Differential of 7) and Ranking B (Wins with Maximum Goal Differential of 1), and come up with an average of the two rankings. The ACHA will then use the list generated from the average for its weekly ranking. Ties will be broken using the higher ranked team from Ranking B until the Top 25 teams are listed. All games that go to overtime will be scored as ties in the computer ranking.
Over the past 21 seasons, 12 different schools have won the ACHA Men’s Division I National Championship: Lindenwood (4), Minot State (3), Adrian (3), Central Oklahoma (2), Illinois (2), Arizona State, Davenport, Delaware, Oakland, Ohio, Penn State, and Rhode Island.
Now in its 34th season of action, there have been a total of 14 schools that have won the ACHA Men’s Division I National Championship:

- Minot State University (3)
- North Dakota State University (2)
- University Central Oklahoma (2)
- University of Illinois (2)

A total of 73 teams will compete in Men’s Division I this season, including former Men’s Division II member Drury University and former Men’s Division III members Northwood University and Saginaw Valley State University.
The computer ranking will for the eleventh time determine the 24 teams that qualify for the 2025 ACHA Men’s Division I National Championships, which will include the following eight auto bids:

- (WHAC) Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference
The seventh ranking of the regular season will be released on Wednesday, November 20, 2024.
The 2025 ACHA Men’s Division I National Championships presented by FloHockey will be hosted March 13-18 for the third time at the Centene Community Ice Center in Maryland Heights, Mo. This will be the second year of the 24-team format.
