University of Michigan-Dearborn wins their Homecoming Game

 

TROY, Mich. – (September 23, 2023) – This Homecoming matchup started with a ceremonial puck drop done by the home team, University of Michigan-Dearborn’s mascot. The puck dropped between UM-Dearborn’s Samantha Sensoli and Concordia University-Ann Arbor’s Grace Dodgson.

 

The Cardinals got the scoring started 9:02 into the first period. Freshman Sienne Basile scored the first goal of the game, and the first of her career. Mallory Collins (So.) assisted on the goal.

 

The first period would end with the Cardinals leading 2-0. Their second goal was scored by Grace Dodgson (Jr.), assists from Sienne Basile (Fr.), and Jenna Peet (So.). The goal was scored at 10:37 of the first period.

 

The Wolverines would go on to score two goals in the second period, to close out the second period tied 2-2. Their first goal and the first of her career was scored by Sydney Gillen (Fr.) with assists from Amy Palaian (Fr.) and Cadence Pero (So.) was scored at 9:02 in the second period. The team’s second goal was a power play goal scored at 12:07 by Andi Evers (So.), Kaylee Keledjian (Sr.), and Zoe Zaifman (So.).

 

The third period would be all Wolverines. They would finish the game scoring five unanswered goals. The third goal for the team was scored by Andi Evers, her second of the game, with assists from Samantha Sensoli (Sr.), and Cadence Pero at 8:22 of the second period. The fourth goal scored at 11:51 was scored by Sienne Basile, her second goal of the game, with assists from Taylor Spence (So.) and Ashley Savage (So.). The fifth and final goal of the game was scored by Samantha Sensoli with the assist from Madison Schroder (Sr.) was scored at 14:36 of the third period.

 

In net for the home team was Victoria Hahn who made twelve saves over the course of three periods. In net for the visiting team was Rose Lennon who made 35 saves over the course of the game.

 

The visiting team had eleven penalties, for a total of twenty-two minutes. The Wolverines capitalized on two of those eleven power plays. The home team had six penalties, for a total of twelve minutes.
