Win streak holds MSU women’s hockey team at No. 2

From Minot Daily News

The Minot State women’s hockey team is No. 2 in the nation for another week.

Riding a seven-game win streak, the Beavers held fast at the No. 2 spot in the ACHA Division I women’s hockey national poll released Tuesday, behind top-ranked Liberty (Va.).

The Beavers (21-4-0 overall) completed a weekend sweep of the University of Colorado on Friday and Saturday, beating the Buffaloes 4-0 and 5-1 to stretch Minot State’s current win streak to seven in a row.

Right behind Minot State in this week’s poll are Adrian (Mich.), Lindenwood (Mo.), and Midland (Neb.), in the third, fourth and fifth spots.

Minot State will look to defend its No. 2 ranking this weekend when the Beavers continue a six-game, regular season-ending homestand against Big 10 foe Michigan State in a battle of top 15-ranked teams. The Spartans (8-5-0) enter the weekend ranked No. 13 in this week’s ACHA poll. The two teams meet at 4:30 p.m. at the Maysa Arena on Friday and Saturday.
