Women’s Division One 2023 National Final Game Rematch

TROY, Mich. – (October 5, 2023) – The last time these two teams met, the 2023 American Collegiate Hockey Association Women’s Division I National Championship was on the line. In that game, Liberty took the game 3-2 in regulation.

 

Liberty has won five National Championships in a row, six total. The Flames finished last season with a record of 18-2-1-0 going into Nationals. The team comes into this series 2-0 with two wins over WMCHL opponent, McKendree University. Liberty.

 

Minot State started as an ACHA Division II team in 2013-2014. In 2019-2020 they made the jump to Division I. The team has qualified for the ACHA National Tournament five times. They finished last season with a record of 19-9-1-2 going into Nationals. The team comes into this series 0-2 with two loses to WMCHL opponent, Midland University.

 

Last season, Minot and Liberty met three times. Liberty won two of those three games, 4-1 and 4-0. Minot took the win in the most recent game, prior to Nationals, winning 4-3.

 

“It is always a true test facing off against Liberty. Their success has been well earned over the years and it makes for some of the best competition. This game means a lot to our program as it will be a rematch of last year’s National Championship and we still have a chip on our shoulder,” Minot Head Coach, Ryan Miner.

 

In addition to being members of the American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA), both teams are members of the Women’s Midwest Collegiate Hockey League (WMCHL). Information about the ACHA can be found at achahockey.org and information on the WMCH can be found on social media.

 

This week’s game is set for October 13th at 3:45 pm CT. The game will be played at Maysa Ice Arena located at 420 3rd Avenue NW, Minot, ND 58701.
