TROY, Mich. – (January 24, 2023) – No. 1 seed Liberty University traveled to St. Louis to take on several WMCH opponents. The Flames defeated Maryville 3-1, and Lindenwood 8-1. No. 7 ranked McKendree University broke the Flames’ 57-game win streak winning 4-3 in overtime. The Bearcats jumped up two spots in this week’s ranking. No. 2 seed Adrian College beat University of Michigan Dearborn 6-0 this past week. The Bulldogs host Maryville University for two games and head down the road to Ann Arbor to take on No. 6 ranked University of Michigan this weekend. No. 3 Minot State University travels to Lynchburg, VA to take on the Flames for three games this weekend. No. 4 Midland University had last weekend off, but travels to St. Louis for 4 games against WMCH opponents. Rounding out the top 5 is Indiana Tech. The Warriors hit the road this weekend for a single game against Aquinas College.
The Women’s Midwest College Hockey League has 7 (of 8) member teams ranked, while the Central Collegiate Women’s Hockey Association has 6 (of 12) of its member teams ranked, the Western Women’s Collegiate Hockey League has 1 (of 6), and the East Coast Women’s Hockey League has 1 (of 2) of its member teams ranked.
The computer ranking will determine the 10 teams that qualify for the 2023 ACHA Women’s Division 1 National Championships, which will include the following three automatic bids:
- (CCWHA) Central Collegiate Women’s Hockey Association
- (WWCHL) Western Women’s Collegiate Hockey League
- (WMCHL) Women’s Midwest College Hockey League
A total of 31 teams are competing in Women’s Division 1 this season, including four new teams: University of Jamestown, Montana State University, University of Wyoming, and Lake Superior State University.
The ACHA uses two computer rankings, Ranking A (Wins with goal differential of 6) and Ranking B (Wins with maximum goal differential of 1) and come up with an average of the two rankings. This is the first year we are only using computer rankings.
There has been a total of 9 schools that have won the ACHA Women’s Division 1 National Championship:

The 2023 ACHA National Championships presented by FloHockey will be played from March 16 through March 21, 2023 at the New England Sports Center in Marlborough, Massachusetts. All five divisions, in the same building at the same time, for the first time with more than 1,500 players from 72 teams — Men’s Division 1, 2, and 3, and Women’s Divisions 1 and 2 — will converge upon the Marlborough area to compete in more than 100 games. The ACHA Women’s Division I National Championships presented by FloHockey will have ten teams competing beginning on March 16th and conclude with the Championship game on March 20th.
