CHAD BERMAN, ANNA QUATTRO, JENNA TRUBIANO, AND WYATT WASELENCHUK SELECTED AS ASSISTANT COACHES FOR 2025 WINTER WORLD UNIVERSITY GAMES IN TORINO, ITALY

 

TROY, Mich. – (July 25, 2024) – The American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) announced today that Chad Berman, Anna Quattro, Jenna Trubiano, and Wyatt Waselenchuk have been selected as assistant coaches for the Men’s and Women’s Ice Hockey teams that will compete at the 2025 Winter World University Games in Torino, Italy.  Berman and Waselenchuk will support head coach Gary Astalos of Adrian College with the United States Men’s National University Team while Quattro and Trubiano will support head coach Lindsey Ellis of Arizona State University with the United States Women’s National University Team.  The 2025 Winter World University Games in Torino, Italy will take place January 13-23, 2025, with ice hockey competitions starting two days earlier on January 11.

 

Chad Berman (Grand Rapids, Mich.) is entering his 11th season as Head Coach at University of Arizona, during which time the Wildcats have qualified for seven berths to the ACHA Men’s Division I National Championships, won two Western Collegiate Hockey League (WCHL) conference championships (2019 and 2020), and claimed six consecutive Cactus Cups (2018-2019 to 2023-2024).  The team has also been recognized for their community engagement several times, winning five nationally recognized ACHA Community Service awards.  Prior to his arrival in Tucson, Berman was the assistant coach at Robert Morris University Illinois (RMU-IL) where the Eagles had an overall record of 113-36-4.  During his final season at RMU-IL and for the first time in program history, the Eagles won both the Central States Collegiate Hockey League (CSCHL) Regular Season and Playoff Championships and finished as the 2014 ACHA Men’s Division I National Runners-Up.  Before coaching, Berman played in the North American Hockey League (NAHL) with the Springfield Spirit and Lansing Capital Center Pride. After his junior career, Berman went on to play NCAA Division III hockey at Fredonia State University.  Berman resides in Tucson, Ariz. with his partner, Sarah.  They have a 12-year-old son and an 8-year-old daughter.

 

Anna Quattro (Williamsville, N.Y.) is entering her third season as Head Coach for Niagara University, and second season as the program’s General Manager. Quattro helped start the ACHA Women’s Hockey Program at Niagara University in 2022. During their inaugural 2022-2023 ACHA Women’s Division II season, the team finished with a 14-3-1 record and earned the program’s first ACHA Women’s Division II National Championships berth by winning the College Hockey East Playoff Championship.  Under Quattro’s leadership, the program expanded to two teams during the 2023-2024 season, with both an ACHA Women’s Division I and Division II team.  During the inaugural ACHA Women’s Division I team’s season, Quattro guided her team to a 15-9-1 record and a program high ranking of 11.  Before coaching, Quattro played goaltender at Buffalo State College with their NCAA Division III Women’s hockey team in the 2017-2018 season where she made two appearances recording a 1.25 GAA and a .951 Save %.  Quattro was also named the Northeast Women’s Hockey League (NEWHL) Rookie of the Week.  Quattro is the proud mother of a 4-year-old daughter, Hunter.

 

Jenna Trubiano (New Baltimore, Mich.) is entering her fourth season as the Head Coach of the University of Michigan women’s hockey program, leading the Wolverines to back-to-back ACHA Women’s Division I National Championships appearances (2023 and 2024) and being named 2023 Central Collegiate Women’s Hockey Association (CCWHA) Coach of the Year.  Trubiano served as an assistant coach for two seasons (2018-2019 and 2019-2020) with the Wolverines before being promoted to head coach in 2020.  Trubiano is a 2017 graduate of the University of Michigan School of Kinesiology, where she obtained a Bachelor of Science degree with a major in Health and Fitness.  Trubiano is a USA Hockey Level 4 certified coach and graduated from Eastern Michigan University in December 2023 with a Master’s in Business Administration.  Before playing four seasons as both a forward and defenseman with the University of Michigan, she played for Little Caesars AAA Hockey Club in metro Detroit and attended the USA Hockey National Player Development Camp in St. Cloud, Minn. in 2011.  During her playing career with the Wolverines, Trubiano averaged 1.02 points per game, scoring 47 goals and 42 assists in 87 games played.  Trubiano is actively involved with annual Michigan Amateur Hockey Association and USA Hockey selection events in Michigan.

 

Wyatt Waselenchuk (Minot, N.D.) is entering his fourth year as the Head Coach at Minot State University with an overall record of 96-13-1.  During the 2023-2024 season, Waselenchuk led the Beavers to the ACHA Men’s Division I National Championships for the 15th consecutive season and 20th overall, guided the team to the No. 1 ranking in the ACHA poll for 15 of the 18 rankings, and was named the 2024 ACHA Men’s Division I Coach of the Year after being a finalist the previous two seasons.  In his second season behind the bench for the Beavers, Waselenchuk led the program to its third ACHA Men’s Division I National Championship and a 35-3-0 overall record.  Wyatt has been part of all three of the team’s ACHA Men’s Division I National Championships:  as a goaltender for the 2012-2013 team; as an assistant coach for the 2018-2019 team; and as head coach for the 2022-2023 team.  Previously, Waselenchuk served as an assistant coach with the Beavers for five seasons.  Waselenchuk played in the British Columbia Hockey League (BCHL) with the Langley Chiefs and the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL) with the Nipawin Hawks.  Waselenchuk played for the Beavers from 2010-2014, which included being a part of the 2013 ACHA Men’s Division I National Championship team.  Waselenchuk became the first and only player in the team’s history to be named ACHA Men’s Division I Player of the Year following the Beavers title run in 2012-2013.  During his senior season, Waselenchuk was chosen to represent the United States at the 2013 Winter World University Games in Trentino, Italy.  Waselenchuk was also an assistant coach with the NAHL Minot Minotauros from 2016 through 2021 prior to taking over leadership of the Beavers program.  Wyatt still works as the Minotauros’ goaltender coach and is the head goaltender coach for the Minot Hockey Boosters youth hockey association.  Waselenchuk is the owner and co-founder of GoalieCoaches and spends his off-season running goaltender camps throughout the Midwestern part of the United States and Canada.  Wyatt resides in Minot, N.D. with his son, Jett.

 

The ACHA is fielding a United States National University men’s hockey team at the Winter World University Games for the 11th time and a United States National University women’s hockey team for the sixth time.  Both ACHA ice hockey teams will be part of the UniUSA delegation that will compete across the 13 sports.  UniUSA is the FISU member federation in the United States.
