Visit Owensboro is proud to announce a weekend of collegiate hockey coming to the Edge Ice Center this October in the Hockey on the Ohio showcase that is taking place between four ACHA hockey programs. Eastern Kentucky University, Austin Peay State University, West Virginia University, and Wright State University will travel to Owensboro to compete this October 9-11, 2026. The weekend will feature six collegiate hockey games across three days, opportunities for fan interaction, and a collegiate hockey recruitment event.
The American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) is the national governing body for non-NCAA college hockey, featuring more than 500 men’s and women’s teams from colleges and universities across the United States. Its teams compete throughout the season in structured conference play, regional tournaments, and national championships, with several former ACHA players advancing to professional hockey.
As one of the nation’s largest collegiate club sports organizations, the ACHA provides competitive opportunities for thousands of student-athletes each year while showcasing a high standard of collegiate hockey.
“We are very excited to bring a weekend of collegiate hockey to Owensboro,” Visit Owensboro’s Lucas
Daunhauer said. “Eastern Kentucky University’s program has been great to work with in organizing this, and the Edge Ice Center is set to be a phenomenal host for this action-packed weekend. Owensboro and its surrounding area have a strong hockey community, and we are excited to get our local youth hockey programs and their families involved in this event as we welcome four high-quality programs to town.”
Tina Lynch, Recreation Facilities Manager at Edge Ice Center, added, “The Edge Ice Center staff, the Owensboro Youth Hockey Association, and our Rampage travel teams and families are excited to welcome collegiate hockey to Owensboro. In addition, we are especially proud to have two Rampage high school alumni playing their first year of collegiate hockey with Eastern Kentucky University. We look forward to celebrating the opportunity to experience high-level hockey right here in our community and to supporting the growth of the sport at every level.”
Visit Owensboro has worked in partnership with Eastern Kentucky University’s hockey program and the Edge Ice Center to make this event possible. The first puck drop of the weekend is set for 3 PM on Friday, October 9, with a matchup between Austin Peay State and West Virginia, with Eastern Kentucky set to play Wright State at 7 PM.
The day begins on Saturday, October 10, with a community skate with the players, open to the general public, at 10 AM, with the opening matchup between Eastern Kentucky and Austin Peay State to follow at Noon. At 3:30 PM, a youth hockey skate with the players will be available to all youth hockey players and fans, with the prime-time matchup between Wright State and West Virginia at 7 PM.
Finally, on Sunday, October 11, the day begins at 9 AM with a prospect skate and clinic open to all high school hockey players looking to work with the collegiate hockey staffs. Action gets underway at 11 AM with West Virginia taking on Eastern Kentucky, and a final matchup between Austin Peay State and Wright State begins at 2:30 PM. Tickets will be available at the gate for $10 a day, with a $25 weekend pass option available.
