FOUR TEAMS APPROVED FOR AMERICAN COLLEGIATE HOCKEY ASSOCIATION MEN’S DIVISION I FOR 2022-2023 SEASON

All Four Schools Elevating from Men’s Division II

 

UNION LAKE, Mich. – (November 22, 2021) – The American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA), announced today that four teams have been approved for Men’s Division 1 for the 2022-2023 season, including The College of New Jersey (Ewing, NJ), University of Oregon (Eugene, OR), Purdue University Northwest (Hammond, IN), and San Diego State University (San Diego, CA).

 

All four institutions currently field teams at the Men’s Division II level.  Purdue University Northwest will join the Great Lakes Collegiate Hockey League (GLCHL) and The College of New Jersey will join the Northeast Collegiate Hockey League (NECHL), while both University of Oregon and San Diego State University are slated to play as Independents.

 

“We’re thrilled to accept these four institutions into Men’s Division I to start next season,” said Craig Barnett, ACHA Executive Director. “We’re really excited to bring in two programs in Purdue University Northwest and The College of New Jersey to solidify our Men’s Division I footprint in the Northeast and Midwest.  We’re also continuing our mission to grow the game of hockey across America, but especially in the West, by admitting two great schools in San Diego State University and University of Oregon to the ranks of Men’s Division I.”

 

With the addition of The College of New Jersey, University of Oregon, Purdue University Northwest, and San Diego State University, there will be a total of 72 teams playing ACHA Men’s Division I in 24 states during the 2022-2023 season.
