– MEN’S DIVISION 2 COMMISSIONER

Jon Eccles was named Men’s Division 2 Commissioner in the summer of 2019 however he was no stranger to the ACHA. Eccles served as both an assistant coach and head coach at Utah State for a combined 15 years, posting an overall record of 264-87-16, with six seasons of 25-plus wins in his 10 years as head coach, including seven bids to the national tournament, making it to the semi-finals in 2012-13 season. In the postseason, Eccles compiled a record of 14-16-1.

Eccles’ individual accolades included winning the ACHA West Coach of the Year three times (2010-11, 2014-15 and 2017-18), and being selected as an assistant coach for the ACHA D2 Select Team in 2013 and 2017, traveling with said team to Europe.

Along with coaching his team to success, Eccles also helped influenced the growth of hockey in the western part of the United States. He was on the West Region ranking committee for a number of years and later became the West Regional Coordinator. He started the Beehive Showcase which, according to USA Hockey, is the longest running and premier showcases in the West. Eccles was also integral in the creation of the Mountain West Collegiate Hockey League conference. The Utah State team won four straight championship titles under Eccles.

Jon has been married to his wife, Rhonda, for 38 years. They have two children, Christopher and Liani, and a granddaughter, Sterling.
