Penn State University, Men's Division 1 (1999-2003)

 

Mandel had an incredible career from 1999 to 2003 at Penn State University, winning the ACHA Men’s National Championship in each of his four seasons in State College.  Mandel was also named to the ACHA All American First Team and the ACHA National All-Tournament Team during each season he played at Penn State.

Mandel scored 39 goals and 110 assists over 116 games for Penn State.  He was named Alternate Captain during the 2001-2002 season and served as Captain for the 2002-2003 season.  Mandel was also a member of the 2001 United States Men’s National University Team that competed at the 2001 Winter World University Games held in Zakopane, Poland, as well as the 2003 United States Men’s National University Team that competed at the 2003 Winter World University Games held in Tarvisio, Italy.  As the captain of the 2003 University team, Mandel had the opportunity to carry the United States flag for opening ceremonies and lead all US athletes into the stadium.

After concluding his ACHA career, Mandel played professionally for the Huntsville Channel Cats of the South East Hockey League.
