LIBERTY UNIVERSITY HOLDS ONTO THE #1 SPOT FOR THE SECOND RANKING

 

TROY, Mich. – (November 15, 2021) – The top 4 teams in our ranking remain the same from week one to week two. Liberty University holds the No. 1 spot, followed by Adrian College at No. 2, Indiana Tech University at No.3, and Lindenwood University at No. 4. Our No. 5 seed is McKendree University who is up 2 spots this week after a win over Grand Canyon University this past weekend. Coming in at No. 6 this week, down one spot, is Minot State University. The Beavers had two solid wins over the University of Minnesota. The No. 7 spot goes to University of Massachusetts, who is up one spot from last week. Midland University holds the No. 8 spot, dropping 2, after last weekend. Rounding out our top 10 are Miami University at No. 9 and Maryville University at No 10.

The Women’s Midwest College Hockey League has six (of 7) member teams ranked, while the Central Collegiate Women’s Hockey Association has 6 (of 12) of its member teams ranked, the Western Women’s Collegiate Hockey League has 2 (of 6), and the East Coast Women’s Hockey League has 1 (of 2) of its member teams ranked.

The computer ranking will determine the 8 teams that qualify for the 2022 ACHA Women’s Division 1 National Championships, which will include the following three automatic bids:

  • (CCWHA) Central Collegiate Women’s Hockey Association
  • (WWCHL) Western Women’s Collegiate Hockey League
  • (WMCHL) Women’s Midwest College Hockey League

A total of 29 teams are competing in Women’s Division 1 this season, including three new teams, Indiana Tech University, Maryville University, and the United States Air Force Academy.

The ACHA uses two computer rankings, Ranking A (Wins with goal differential of 7) and Ranking B (Wins with maximum goal differential of 1) and come up with an average of the two rankings. This is the first year we are only using computer rankings.

There has been a total of 9 schools that have won the ACHA Women’s Division 1 National Championship:

  • Wisconsin (2 Times)
  • Michigan State (2)
  • Robert Morris (2)
  • Lindenwood (4)
  • Northeastern
  • Minnesota
  • Miami (3)
  • Liberty (4)

 

The 2022 ACHA National Championships will be played from March 10 through March 20, 2022 at the Centene Community Ice Arena in Maryland Heights, Missouri.  The Centene Community Ice Center, which opened in September 2019, is the practice facility for the NHL St. Louis Blues as well as the home of Lindenwood University’s hockey programs.  The ACHA will also utilize the Maryville University Hockey Center in nearby Chesterfield, Missouri, for overflow games and practices.

More than 1,500 players from 72 teams across all five ACHA divisions—Men’s Division 1, 2, and 3, and Women’s Divisions 1 and 2 — will converge upon the St. Louis area from March 10 through March 20, 2022, to compete in more than 100 games.
