LIBERTY UNIVERSITY SWEEPS TO THE TOP OF AMERICAN COLLEGIATE HOCKEY ASSOCIATION WOMEN’S DIVISION 1 RANKING #4

TROY, Mich. – (November 5, 2024) – After a late start to the season, Liberty University* (3-1-0-0) climbs two positions to claim the No. 1 spot in Ranking #4 of the 2024-2025 American Collegiate Hockey Association Women’s Division 1 season. The Flames swept last week’s No. 1 team, Maryville University (9-3-2-0), in a pair of games at the LaHaye Ice Center in Lynchburg, Va.  The first game of the weekend saw the Flames pull out a 2-1 overtime thriller over the Saints in the first Midnight Mayhem game in Liberty women’s program history.  Flames’ defender Madison Glynn scored her first goal of the season just 1:38 into the overtime session to secure the victory.  Less than 15 hours later, Flames forward Zosia Adamek and her younger sister, defender Sophia Adamek, accounted for three of Liberty’s five goals as the Flames romped to a 5-1 win over the Saints.

The road sweep at Liberty dropped Maryville to the second spot in the ranking.  No. 3 McKendree University (12-1-1-0) was idle over the weekend.

The University of Michigan (5-1-0-1) moved up three spots in the ranking to No. 4, benefitting from a 3-1 road victory and 1-1 tie at No. 8 Miami (OH) over the weekend.

The defending National Champion, Adrian College (9-3-0-1), slotted in at No. 5 after a home-and-home sweep of No. 18 Grand Valley State University last weekend, winning 3-2 in overtime at Arrington Ice Arena and 7-0 in regulation the next evening in Grand Rapids, Mich.

Please note, teams with an asterisk next to their names in the ranking have played less than 6 games. This can have an impact on the ranking from week to week.

The Women’s Midwest College Hockey League leads the way with seven (of 8) member teams ranked in Ranking #4.  The Central Collegiate Women’s Hockey Association has seven (of 12) of its member teams ranked, and one Independent team was ranked in Ranking #4.

The computer ranking will determine the 12 teams that qualify for the 2024 ACHA Women’s Division 1 National Championships, which will include the following three automatic bids:
