ST. LOUIS – Maryville University men’s ice hockey was selected 10th in the most recent American Collegiate Hockey Association rankings on Monday. The Saints head into the break with a 12-4 record and an impressive 8-2 on the road.

In their outing last weekend, the M1 team traveled to Athens, Ohio, to take on seventh-ranked Ohio University. Goals from Félix Turcotte and Luke MaCleod led Maryville past the Bobcats 2-0 on Friday night. Ed Coffey was in the net, saving all 30 shots faced for a shutout.

Saturday was a back-and-forth affair. Ohio went up 3-0 just 14 minutes into the game before the Saints battled back with a pair of goals from TJ Prexler and Jackson Zloty by the end of the first period. The Bobcats scored two quick goals in the third to make it 5-2 to put the Saints away. Lucas Adams scored with six minutes left, but it would not be enough to spark a comeback.

“Thanksgiving always comes at a good time for our groups,” said Head M1 Ice Hockey Coach John Hogan. “If its bodies needing a little TLC, the colder weather bringing some coughs and sneezes, or guys just needing to take a deep breath, we are always thankful for Thanksgiving. The break gives us a needed pause to be mindful and thankful for the things we have in life and a quick reset to end the semester well before the holiday winter break.”

The Saints will end the semester on the road in Lynchburg, Va., against the second-ranked Liberty University Flames on Friday, Dec. 2. Puck drop is set for 11:59 p.m., for Liberty’s holiday Midnight Madness game. Both Friday and Saturday’s games will be streamed on ESPN+.
