Men’s ACHA Division II ice hockey dropped both games of a weekend series with the University of Mary at the Mandan Ice Arena in Mandan, North Dakota. The Lions were shut out 4-0 Friday night and fell 8-1 Saturday night.

Special teams were a key component as Lindenwood could not take advantage of power play opportunities, going a combined 0/10 through both contests. On the other hand, the Marauders scored five goals on 12 chances and added another seven goals at even strength. The University of Mary had a 1-0 lead after the first period on Friday, made it 2-0 through the second, then pulled away with two more in the third, outshooting the Lions 31-27. Ethan Paulin-Hatch made 27 saves on the 31 shots for Lindenwood.

The Lions managed to stay close through most of the first period on Saturday. After the Marauders took a 1-0 lead, Lindenwood answered when Chase McClellan set up Alex Villa at the 6:06 mark. The University of Mary made it 2-1 just under three minutes later, but a power play goal with 1:33 remaining gave the Marauders a 3-1 advantage and they never looked back from there.

Michael Errico made 17 saves on 24 shots and Dylan Bak five saves on six shots in relief as the Lions outshot the University of Mary 35-30.

With the two losses, Lindenwood dropped to 6-3-0 on the season. The Lions will play two games October 29-30, hosting Central Michigan Saturday night at 7:30 p.m. and the Maryville D1 squad Sunday afternoon at 2:30 p.m. at the Centene Community Ice Center in Maryland Heights, Missouri.
