Mason City Goaltender Tanton Makes College Commitment

The Mason City Toros of the North American 3 Hockey League (NA3HL) are proud to announce that goaltender Ty Tanton has committed to play ACHA Division I college hockey for Iowa State University.

The 6-foot-3 goaltender from Omaha, Nebraska, Tanton will play between the pipes for the Cyclones in the fall. The ‘06 netminder just wrapped up his first season playing in the NA3HL. He laced up in 12 games for the Toros this season, recording a .882 save percentage. During his tenure with Mason City, he earned five wins for the Toros. While at the annual NA3HL Showcase, Tanton earned a shutout against the Buzz.

“Ty has been a steady competitor for us in net since joining us,” said Toros Head Coach Alex North. “He shows up every day with the right attitude and work ethic and couldn’t be prouder of him earning this opportunity.”

Tanton is the fourth player from the Toros to make a college commitment this season.
